Role overview
This remote contract position is for an Excel specialist who will contribute domain knowledge to support training for advanced AI systems. The work focuses on producing high-quality, real-world examples so models can learn to interpret, reason through, and respond to business scenarios more effectively. Prior experience in AI is not required; strong Excel expertise and practical business understanding are the main priorities.
What you will do
- Examine complex Excel workbooks tied to business operations, strategy, and data analysis, then improve them as needed.
- Offer thorough feedback and demonstrate best-practice approaches for Excel use in operations and consulting settings, with finance-related use cases excluded.
- Build, document, and share templates or solution examples that can be used for AI learning.
- Work with the client’s team to map important workflows and identify operational issues reflected in Excel files.
- Test and model practical business problems using advanced Excel formulas and features.
- Produce clear written and spoken updates, with documentation that is precise and complete.
- Help develop case studies and operational examples that rely on strong Excel knowledge.
Required skills and background
- Advanced command of Microsoft Excel, including complex functions, pivot tables, data validation, and automation.
- Hands-on experience creating Excel solutions for business operations, strategy, or consulting environments.
- Strong analytical ability and comfort solving non-financial business problems in Excel.
- Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken formats, along with strong attention to detail.
- Capability to document workflows, create learning materials, and deliver actionable guidance.
- Experience with data analysis, scenario planning, and improving workflows through Excel.
- Ability to work independently, stay proactive, and remain effective in a remote setup.
Preferred experience
- Exposure to business operations, strategy, or management consulting.
- Familiarity with AI training work or contributing domain expertise to machine learning datasets.
- Experience creating Excel-based dashboards or tools that support operational improvement.
