Role overview
The Education Specialist joins a collaborative community education team and supports two main program areas. One focus is building engagement with men and boys as allies in ending violence against women and girls. The other centers on the connection between domestic violence and substance use, along with prevention approaches.
In this role, you will lead curriculum delivery, work alongside internal staff and external partners, and take part in community-facing events. You may also help create outreach materials, multimedia content, evaluation tools, and related program assets.
This is an in-person position and is not available for remote work. The schedule may include evenings and Saturdays to support events and facilitate programming.
The organization is looking for someone who communicates clearly in both speaking and writing, and who brings strong organization, attention to detail, teamwork, and a solid work ethic. Comfort with Microsoft Office or a similar suite is required.
Key duties
- Deliver the “Not My City” education program, which engages men and boys as allies in preventing violence against women and girls.
- Coordinate with the Community Education team to identify and plan opportunities for project delivery.
- Lead educational sessions connected to the project.
- Take part in Project Team and Coordinated Community Response (CCR) meetings tied to the initiative.
- Reach out to community partners and encourage their involvement in educational sessions and CCR work.
- Create printed materials and digital/media assets for project use.
- Represent the organization at community events to build awareness of the project.
- Draft content for social channels, websites, and related communication materials.
- Keep accurate records to meet regulatory expectations and project deliverables.
- Provide education programming related to the overlap of domestic violence and substance use/opioid use.
- Train professionals in areas such as behavioral health, drug treatment, health care, and related fields on the issue and prevention strategies.
- Lead outreach sessions that increase community awareness of the issue.
- Attend local events to share information and raise awareness with the goal of preventing domestic violence and substance use.
- Represent Hubbard House professionally in the community.
- Attend trainings required by the Office of Violence Against Women, the City of Jacksonville, and Hubbard House.
- Help ensure community access for people with disabilities, Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing individuals, and people needing translation or interpretation support.
- Complete additional responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in education, training, social services, or a closely related area is preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
- At least two years of experience facilitating community-based training is preferred.
- Background in sexual assault or domestic violence programming is a plus.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Bilingual ability is an advantage.
- A valid driver’s license and dependable transportation are required.
- Vehicle insurance must be kept active, and the candidate must meet the organization’s insurance eligibility rules.
- Must pass a Level 2 background check, including criminal screening through DCF, FDLE, and the National Sex Offender Registry at a minimum.
- A motor vehicle report review through the DMV is required.
- Drug, alcohol, and TB screening must be completed successfully.
- Must provide proof of authorization to work in the United States through E-Verify.
- This is an onsite role.
- Position status: full-time, non-exempt.
- The organization states that it follows all federal, state, and local laws.

Work schedule
The role may require evening and Saturday availability to support community events and curriculum delivery.
