Position Summary
The Department of Safety and Homeland Security in Gibson County, Tennessee is hiring one full-time Driver's License Examiner in Trenton, TN. This role involves assessing whether applicants qualify for driver services such as license renewals, replacements, road and written testing, vision screening, and handgun permit-related processing, while also handling application data, fees, and related records.
Compensation for this role is $2,896 to $3,614 per month, which is equivalent to $34,752 to $43,368 annually.

Key Duties
This position focuses on explaining licensing rules and procedures to the public, collecting documents and fees, verifying applicant information, administering tests, and maintaining accurate records. The examiner also reconciles cash and deposits, supports special cases or administrative tasks when needed, and helps ensure applicants are processed correctly and fairly.
Qualification Requirements
Candidates must have an education level equivalent to graduating from a standard high school. Before appointment, applicants must also complete the required background clearance process, including fingerprint-based and name-based criminal history checks.
In addition, candidates must satisfy the listed disqualifying-offense restrictions under Title 49 CFR section 1572.103, including not having certain permanent disqualifying offenses, not having recent interim disqualifying offenses within the past 7 years, not having been released from incarceration within the past 5 years for an interim disqualifying offense, and not being under warrant for the specified felony offenses.
A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required, or the applicant must be able to obtain one before appointment.
Driver Standards
Because the role may include driving duties, applicants must hold a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record for the previous five years. The record should not show DUI, reckless driving, a license suspension for moving violations, or more than four moving violations. Agencies may make exceptions based on other factors.
