Role overview

Boots UK is hiring a Dispenser to join the in-store pharmacy team in Royal Sutton Coldfield, England. In this position, you will work closely with the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues to help deliver pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently.

The role is focused on patient care within the store’s healthcare department. You will welcome customers, support prescription dispensing, ensure medicines are supplied safely, and offer healthcare guidance to help people make informed choices about their wellbeing.

The hourly pay for this position is £13.92, rising to as much as £16.64 in selected London locations.

This is a store-based role in the UK only. Remote applications will not be considered, and applications from outside the UK will not move forward unless the candidate can provide relevant UK qualifications and evidence of the right to work.

Key responsibilities

• Handle prescription dispensing tasks while maintaining the safe supply of medicines, including ordering, labelling, endorsing, dispensing, and collecting prescriptions.
• Work alongside healthcare professionals in the store to support the delivery and day-to-day management of pharmacy services.
• Offer patients guidance and care related to medicines, and escalate queries to the Pharmacist when needed.
• Follow standard operating procedures to ensure prescriptions are dispensed safely and legally.
• Stay current with new in-store developments and follow operational processes accurately.
• Help patients manage repeat prescriptions and medicines in ways that encourage adherence and reduce waste.
• Use evolving in-store technology and systems that modernise dispensing work, improve patient safety, and create more time for patient-facing support.

Training and development

You will receive regular updates and training to strengthen your healthcare knowledge. The role also offers career progression opportunities, including pathways toward becoming a Pharmacy Technician or moving into the store leadership team.

Requirements

• You should have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification at NVQ2 level, or an equivalent qualification, or be currently working toward it and have finished the first year of an MPharm degree.
• You must already have a valid UK right to work. This role cannot be sponsored under the Skilled Worker Visa route.
• Experience in a community pharmacy setting is preferred.
