Debt Collector

Role Overview

We are looking for a Debt Collector based in Dubai to handle early-stage collection activity for overdue returns, fees, and penalties. The position is centered on first-contact outreach, payment reminders, and consistent follow-up with lower-risk cases to help recover outstanding amounts in a timely manner.

Key Duties

• Reach out to taxable individuals or their tax representatives to recover unpaid taxes and obtain overdue return filings.
• Request and collect any supporting documents needed from taxable persons or their agents.
• Assess whether a taxable person has the capacity to make payment.
• Work out and agree on repayment plans with taxable persons.
• Inform non-compliant taxable persons and apply penalties where required.
• Ensure that payments are processed accurately and received within the required timeframe.
• Handle questions from taxable persons regarding outstanding balances, collection activity, and failure to file returns.
• Review payment behavior, identify irregularities or risks, and escalate concerns to the Head of Enforcement.
• Carry out enforcement actions as directed by the Head of Enforcement or Enforcement Specialist.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Economics, or a similar discipline is required.
• Professional qualifications such as CFA, CPA, ACCA, CTA, ATT, or CTP are considered an advantage.
• At least 5 years of experience in collections is needed.
• Background in collections within a government organization is preferred.
• English and Arabic fluency is required.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
• Good negotiation skills and the ability to resolve conflict effectively.
• Clear and professional communication with stakeholders.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Strong research, investigation, and information-gathering abilities.

Compensation

The position offers a salary of AED 10,000.
