Role overview
The Data Privacy Officer will be responsible for carrying out privacy-related work across Doha Bank in line with internal policies, procedures, and the applicable data privacy laws and regulations. The position also supports the creation and rollout of the bank’s Data Privacy Program, helps maintain compliance through suitable controls and mechanisms, and delivers staff awareness and training in collaboration with key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Handle assigned operational tasks according to the direction of the reporting manager, while following local laws, Doha Bank policies, and any approved department or unit procedures.
- Contribute to building and executing the bank’s privacy framework and program in alignment with relevant privacy regulations and legal requirements.
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure the bank remains compliant with all applicable data privacy obligations.
- Draft privacy policies, procedures, and notices, and review them each year to reflect legal, regulatory, and internal changes.
- Work with the appropriate teams to implement privacy policies, procedures, and notices across the organization.
- Support Privacy Champions and IT Application Managers in keeping the Record of Processing Activities and Data Flow Diagrams updated.
- Carry out Data Privacy Impact Assessments for business processes and IT systems that handle personal data belonging to staff, customers, vendors, and others.
- Coordinate with business stakeholders so that operational processes follow internal privacy rules and procedures.
- Coordinate with IT application owners to confirm that systems containing personal data meet the bank’s privacy requirements.
Education and experience
- A university degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Security, or another relevant field is required.
- Overall experience of 5 to 8 years in financial services or banking, with responsibilities related to the same discipline.
- Prior exposure to data privacy, data protection, or data compliance within the financial services sector is necessary.
