Role overview
IMCS Group is looking for a Data Analyst for a remote assignment in Canada. This is a 6-month contract position, with the possibility of getting extended. The role is centered on understanding core data concepts, data structures, and how data is managed throughout its lifecycle. You will help turn business needs into technical and data requirements and contribute to the design of data-driven solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Work with business and technology stakeholders to capture business needs and convert them into technical and data requirements.
- Create clear documentation covering data definitions, process flows, use cases, and functional specifications.
- Review data and operational processes to spot gaps, data quality concerns, and improvement opportunities.
- Assist with delivery and rollout planning by evaluating impact and ensuring requirements are clearly defined.
Required experience and skills
- Sound knowledge of data fundamentals such as entities, relationships, keys, and domains.
- Hands-on exposure to data modeling approaches including relational, dimensional, and lakehouse models.
- Understanding of how data moves and changes across different environments throughout its lifecycle.
- Ability to define data flows, data contracts, and system-to-system interface needs.
- Experience managing the full requirements lifecycle, including gathering, documenting, validating, and tracking requirements.
- Strong analytical ability to translate business objectives into technical specifications.
- Comfort leading stakeholder discussions and working closely with both business and technical teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration and presentations.
- Ability to define and verify data requirements, transformation logic, and data quality rules.
- Good understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data lineage concepts.
- Advanced Python experience of more than 7 years.
Nice to have
- Background in insurance or financial services, particularly in back-office or product systems.
Additional information
This engagement is for 6 months and may be extended based on business needs. The role is remote and based in Canada.
