Position overview
An expanding organization is hiring a Data Analyst for its Finance function in Van Nuys, CA. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys turning raw data into practical business insights that support better decisions.
You will work with senior leaders and teams across the business to build dashboards, study performance trends, automate recurring reporting, and strengthen operational efficiency. The position suits an analytical professional who can handle complex problems, create scalable reporting solutions, and help shape business strategy through data.
Key responsibilities
- Gather, verify, and interpret information from several business systems.
- Create and support dashboards with business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
- Develop reports, queries, and data models that deliver dependable and accurate insights.
- Spot trends, key performance drivers, and improvement opportunities.
- Share analysis, conclusions, and recommendations with Finance leadership and other stakeholders.
- Partner with Finance, Operations, and Sales to define KPIs and reporting measures.
- Assist with forecasting, planning, and scenario-based analysis.
- Streamline manual reporting tasks through automation to improve speed and accuracy.
- Protect data quality, maintain documentation, and follow reporting standards.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in data analytics.
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel at an advanced level.
- Experience using BI software such as Power BI, Tableau, or comparable tools.
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex findings to non-technical audiences.
- Comfort working on several priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- High attention to detail and a mindset focused on process improvement.
- Preferred exposure to ERP platforms such as Epicor, NetSuite, SAP ee6, Oracle, or similar systems.
- Preferred working knowledge of SQL, shell scripting, Python, or R.
- Preferred experience supporting finance or operations in a complex business setting.
