Role Overview
U-Haul is looking for a friendly, energetic person who enjoys working with people and supporting customers throughout their moving experience. In this role, you will represent the company on the front line, help customers with the service they need, and contribute to the care and readiness of rental equipment. The position includes practical, hands-on training at work.
Compensation and Hiring Extras
The company promotes a “Hire Fast, Pay Fast” approach, which means candidates can begin quickly and receive pay the same day. A hands-on working interview is available and is paid. New hires may also receive a $100 hiring bonus. In addition, a $300 cash bonus is paid immediately after completing the Equipment Inspection and Verification step in the 1-2-3 Punch Certification Program at retail stores.

Responsibilities
- Support customers inside and outside the U-Haul center with products and services.
- Use smartphone-based U-Scan tools to handle rentals and track inventory.
- Move U-Haul trucks and trailers and connect them properly.
- Wash, inspect, and check equipment on the lot, including fluid levels.
- Respond to customer questions and explain available products and services.
- Create rental invoices and receive returned equipment.
- Install trailer hitches and wiring.
- Handle propane refills after certification, which is provided after joining.
- Operate a forklift after completing company-provided certification.
- Carry out other related tasks as needed.
- Continue learning through U-Haul University and other internal training.
Minimum Qualifications
- A valid driver’s license with a clean and maintainable driving record.
- High school diploma or an equivalent credential.
Work Environment
This role may involve moderate safety-related risks or discomforts, so special precautions are required. You may work around moving machinery, fumes, or irritant chemicals, and protective gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields may be necessary.
Physical Requirements
The job can require extended periods of staying in one place, moving between indoor and outdoor areas, reaching items at different heights, and handling equipment that weighs at least 50 lbs, either with assistance or independently.
