Primary duties

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships for construction work.
• Explain the construction process clearly to clients.
• Discuss requested upgrades and changes with customers.
• Confirm that estimates align with client expectations and project needs.
• Review labor, material, and time requirements for each project.
• Prepare an accurate sketch and an initial scope of work.
• Create estimates that are consistent, complete, and easy to follow.
• Identify limitations, constraints, and any necessary upgrades during estimating.
• Coordinate with the Project Manager on bid item pricing when required.
• Finalize and document the full scope of work for the project.
• Consult outside specialists such as structural engineers, ITEL, and electrical inspectors when needed.
• Organize estimates in a clear, accurate, and professional format.
• Present and hand off the estimate to the Project Manager.

Experience and skills

• At least 2 years of background in construction estimating or insurance adjusting.
• A strong record of customer service.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid math ability for estimating and analysis.
• Hands-on experience using Xactimate estimating software.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Valid driving record required.

Education

A bachelor's degree in engineering, construction science, or a closely related field is preferred.

Work conditions and schedule

This is a full-time onsite role. Standard hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a minimum of 45 hours per week and additional time as needed. The job may require extended hours, being on call, and weekend work. Travel is part of the role and is mainly local, though occasional overnight or out-of-area travel may be required. Work may involve walking and standing for much of the day, frequent driving and sitting, occasional ladder climbing, exposure to heat, and noisy job sites.
