We are seeking a proactive, commercially minded Business Development Associate in Singapore to support the expansion of a globally recognized ship manager’s newbuilding supervision business. In this role, you will identify international market opportunities, develop senior-level relationships, and help drive complex commercial proposals in a fast-moving global maritime environment.
The position suits a customer-focused professional with a background in naval architecture, marine engineering, or nautical science, along with prior sales experience in shipping, preferably in newbuilding supervision. The role also requires a strong willingness to travel extensively and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively across different markets.
Responsibilities
- Spot and pursue new commercial opportunities across newbuilding and wider maritime services.
- Develop trusted, long-term relationships with shipowners, shipyards, leasing firms, and maritime investors.
- Track global fleet growth plans and shipyard activity to uncover fresh business prospects.
- Coordinate the creation of persuasive proposals, tender submissions, and commercial presentations.
- Work closely with technical and operations teams to shape customer solutions that are both competitive and technically robust.
- Keep the CRM updated with an accurate sales pipeline and customer intelligence to support the wider global strategy.
- Represent the organization at major industry events and in high-level client meetings around the world.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, or a closely related discipline.
- Between 3 and 5 years of experience in sales or business development within shipping or ship management, with preference for newbuilding supervision exposure.
- Must be prepared to travel internationally for around 70% of the year to meet shipyards and clients.
- A self-driven, persistent, and highly resilient approach to business development.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience handling complex maritime commercial discussions.
- Capability to analyze competitors and market conditions in support of business goals.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office tools.
