Brewing Operator

Role overview

This position focuses on the safe and efficient running of one or more brewing process areas, such as wort cooling, yeast handling, and filtration quality checks at source. The role also includes routine maintenance work, quality verification and analysis, and supporting teammates so the brewery consistently delivers product of the right standard at the lowest practical cost.

Core duties

• Improve plant and process performance wherever possible.
• Run the brewhouse equipment and associated process stages.
• Manage fermentation operations and related process controls.
• Operate filtration equipment and process activities.
• Carry out housekeeping duties, apply 5S practices, and work in line with safety rules.
• Spot unsafe practices and take corrective action immediately.
• Help develop and document standard work methods, including quick-fix routines and issue-handling steps.

Quality control and analysis

• Complete the required checks and tests, and record the results in the correct system.
• Use suitable problem-solving methods to address quality issues when they arise.
• Raise unresolved or significant issues to the Team Leader.

Communication and shift handover

• Take part actively in meetings and review discussions on goals and performance.
• Use checklists to capture issues, problems, and improvement ideas.
• Stay aligned with team objectives and contribute to goal review sessions.
• Use communication tools such as the shift logbook to share updates and keep others informed.
• Complete shift handovers thoroughly, covering plant performance, quality, and maintenance matters.
• Carry out autonomous maintenance tasks and participate in problem-solving activities.

Problem solving and teamwork

• React quickly to upstream or downstream signals that could lead to process instability.
• Apply structured problem-solving tools such as 5Y and quick-fix routines to identify and correct issues.
• Help build the capability of others and learn from fellow brewery specialists.
• Work effectively in a team, communicate well, listen actively, and provide support where needed.
• Show initiative, energy, and a strong drive to achieve improvements and exceed previous standards.

Minimum requirements

• A diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Food Science.
• Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft applications.
• Good problem-solving ability.
• Strong communication skills.
• Availability to work shifts.
