About the role
Join a global artist services business operating across London, Berlin, and Japan, supporting artists, labels, and managers with merchandise, e-commerce, and creative campaign work. This position is based in Berlin and requires on-site attendance.
Working arrangement
This is a full-time role with a five-day workweek in the Berlin office. Standard working hours are 09:00 to 17:00.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out complete double-entry bookkeeping through to trial balance, and support preparation of year-end accounts.
- Manage invoicing and credit control, including prompt billing, debt follow-up, and weekly reporting on outstanding debtors and creditors.
- Prepare, calculate, and file VAT returns, and manage payroll activities in line with local tax rules.
- Oversee core accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records and systems in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with external accountants to help ensure the accounts remain accurate and well controlled.
- Communicate with banks, auditors, advisers, and regulatory bodies as needed.
- Work with colleagues across functions to improve finance workflows and strengthen the quality of reporting.
- Maintain proper filing and records-retention practices in line with compliance standards.
- Take on additional finance-related tasks as required to support the team’s overall effectiveness.
Requirements
- Prior experience handling German accounting is mandatory.
- Strong fluency in English is required.
- German fluency is an advantage.
- Confident use of MS Office, especially Excel, plus experience with accounting tools; experience with Xero is preferred.
- Exposure to international VAT and statutory reporting.
- Sound knowledge of financial processes and double-entry bookkeeping.
- Good communication and people skills for working with colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Strong organisational ability with the capacity to handle several priorities and meet deadlines.
