Role overview

This is an on-site backend engineering position based in Bengaluru. The role supports multiple applications, including Openproject, Bill BE backup support, and Compliance backend support. The workplace expectation is 5 days a week at the office.

Key responsibilities

The selected engineer will own backend integrations and APIs for Openproject, support the Bill application as a backup engineer, and provide backend support for Compliance applications. The position also involves building and maintaining Java Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs, optimising PostgreSQL schemas and queries, and managing stored procedures.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining Nginx configurations for application deployments, taking part in code reviews, documenting technical designs and runbooks, and coordinating closely with frontend teams on API contracts and integration points. The role also requires completing knowledge transfer from existing Openproject engineers before their last working day.

Technical profile

The role requires strong hands-on experience with Java Spring Boot and PostgreSQL, along with practical exposure to REST API design, Git-based collaboration, Docker or containerisation, Linux, bash scripting, and Agile or Scrum ways of working. Experience in testing using tools such as JUnit and Mockito is preferred, as is familiarity with Nginx deployment setup.

Soft skills

Applicants should be confident problem-solvers with strong debugging ability, capable of independently owning applications with little supervision. Good communication and the ability to work smoothly with cross-functional teams are important, along with the willingness to quickly learn from outgoing team members during transition.

Work arrangement

This is a work-from-office role with a 5-day office schedule. The office location is 2nd Floor, Salarpuria Sapphire, 14, Hosur Road, Adugodi, Bengaluru, Karnataka - 560030. Candidates must be available in the city for the final face-to-face discussion.
