About the Role

This role sits within the Biopharmaceuticals pod of the Securities Selection group in the Active Equities function. The Associate will focus on researching investment opportunities in the biopharma sector, helping shape recommendations, supporting the execution of fundamental investment ideas, and tracking portfolio holdings. The position may also contribute to identifying and assessing value creation opportunities through research, analysis, and presentation work.

The broader Active Equities team invests in large-cap public and pre-IPO companies across North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Its approach is built around bottom-up, highly detailed fundamental research and a concentrated market-neutral portfolio that combines long and short positions. The Security Selection team operates globally and relies on specialized sector expertise to generate distinct investment views.

What You Will Do

  • Gather industry, market, asset-level, and financial data to support research work.
  • Develop connections with sector participants and company leadership teams.
  • Carry out fundamental analysis and share investment ideas with the wider team.
  • Complete due diligence on opportunities, including company, financial, and sector reviews, to assess upside, risks, and suitability.
  • Create company financial models, perform valuation work, and use statistical analysis to guide investment decisions.
  • Contribute to the overall evaluation of opportunities by presenting findings and views on investment appeal.
  • Prepare investment memos, research summaries, industry overviews, and due diligence materials together with the team.
  • Help present investment recommendations to the Investment Committee and Board when needed.
  • Support the development, rollout, and ongoing monitoring of existing portfolio positions.
  • Assist with onboarding new assets into the portfolio by identifying benchmarks, building models, and coordinating project tasks carefully.

What We’re Looking For

  • A bachelor’s degree or college diploma in a relevant discipline.
  • An advanced qualification or CFA certification is considered an advantage.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong abilities in research, analysis, financial modeling, valuation, and creative problem-solving.
  • Prior exposure to deal-oriented environments, such as acquisitions, diligence, or asset management.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
