Aquarist

Role overview

Resorts World Sentosa is looking for an Aquarist to support the care, upkeep, and day-to-day functioning of aquatic habitats and the animals housed in them. This role combines animal husbandry, underwater work, routine habitat maintenance, observation, and support for animal health and transfer activities.

Key duties

• Provide day-to-day husbandry care for assigned animals, including underwater work where required, while maintaining a high standard of care.
• Mix, prepare, and distribute daily meals in line with each animal’s dietary and nutritional needs.
• Support veterinary or medical procedures and assist with moving animals between locations when needed.
• Keep habitats clean, safe, and operating properly through routine upkeep and sanitation.
• Carry out general maintenance tasks for habitats, as well as basic repair work for tools and equipment.
• Monitor animal behaviour and maintain accurate observations and records.
• Conduct daily siphoning to remove waste and debris, and clean acrylic viewing panels in the habitats.

Requirements

• A diploma or degree in Marine Science, Aquaculture, Biological Science, or Life Sciences.
• Preference will be given to candidates with scuba diving certification at Open Water Diver level or higher; training and certification will be arranged for suitable applicants who do not yet hold this qualification.
• Comfort and confidence working in an aquatic setting.
• Strong interest in animal care and welfare.
• Genuine commitment to environmental sustainability and conservation.
• Availability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
