The Sydney Funds Finance team is looking for an Accountant who is highly detail-focused and confident handling fund accounting work across Stabilised and Development Funds.

This position supports monthly and year-end accounting, management reporting, and tax compliance, while working closely with the Senior Accountant to keep fund finance operations running smoothly and efficiently. The role also includes assisting with a range of ad hoc tasks across the wider finance function.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements and management reports for a portfolio of Stabilised and Development Funds.
  • Check fund-level profit and loss reports, complete balance sheet reconciliations, and post journals, including IFRS/AASB16 and loan-related entries.
  • Assist with tax compliance activities such as BAS preparation, income tax returns, and distribution calculations.
  • Keep financial records accurate through bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, payment checks, and coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Support audit work, loan covenant reporting, process enhancement initiatives, and other fund finance tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance, along with a CA/CPA qualification or progress toward completion.
  • Well-developed Excel skills and the ability to organise and analyse financial information effectively.
  • Strong accuracy, excellent organisation, and disciplined record-keeping habits.
  • The ability to juggle multiple priorities and deliver within deadlines in a busy environment.
  • Clear communication skills and a professional, team-oriented approach to collaboration.
  • Comfort using technology, including AI tools, to improve efficiency and output.
