Role Overview
Canada Life is seeking an Account Executive focused on large group benefits. This position is responsible for managing a complex portfolio of existing business while also strengthening relationships with benefits advisors and group policyholders. The role combines client management with business development and is designed to support sales, profitability, renewal, and persistency goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an established portfolio of large and/or complex group benefits clients.
- Build strong connections with consultants by understanding their priorities and encouraging them to continue working with Canada Life.
- Drive the sales cycle from request for proposal through to finalist presentation.
- Handle account administration duties, including financial activities such as annual renewals.
- Resolve sensitive or unusual claims issues and manage financial decisions that fall outside standard guidelines, escalating when required.
- Develop productive working relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Partner closely with service teams to make sure customer service expectations are surpassed.
- Introduce additional products and services to consultants, plan sponsors, and service partners to improve retention.
- Help achieve yearly targets related to sales, persistency, portfolio growth, profitability, and other business measures.
What You Bring
- At least 5 years of experience in group insurance, along with strong knowledge of group life, health, disability, and underwriting.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, including confidence in delivering presentations.
- Good numerical and analytical skills.
- Ability to respond quickly and propose practical, creative solutions.
- Comfort working in a changing, fast-moving environment.
- Well-developed sales and relationship-building abilities, with the drive to meet business goals.
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- A valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle, as travel is required.
- Professional designations such as C.A.A.S., GBA, or CEBS are considered an important advantage.
- An undergraduate diploma or an equivalent qualification.
Compensation
This is a base-plus-commission opportunity. The annual base salary range for the role is $59,600 to $109,600. Other variable pay elements, including annual bonus and commission, are not included in that figure and may be discussed further during recruitment.
