About the company
Lula Group Web Design, established in 2020, is a rapidly expanding agency in Gregory Hills, Sydney that focuses on Shopify-led web design and development. The team works with eCommerce brands and service businesses to create websites that are fast, effective at converting visitors, and tailored for platforms such as Shopify, WordPress, and custom builds.
The company is recognised for a practical, hands-on working style, polished visual design, thoughtful UX decisions, and clear communication with clients. With several confirmed projects and a consistent flow of incoming enquiries, the business is currently in a strong growth stage.
Lula Group is part of a wider group structure that includes specialist businesses across web design and recruitment. Although this position is entirely within the web team, it offers exposure to a broad mix of industries, founders, and growing businesses across Sydney.
About the role
This position begins as a casual, Monday to Friday onsite role, with the main focus on creating clean, user-friendly, conversion-oriented websites. You will handle the visual and user experience side of projects while working closely with developers to make sure designs are practical, scalable, and ready to build. Although this is not a coding role, you should be comfortable making minor layout or styling adjustments directly in Shopify, WordPress, or Wix when needed.
The ideal candidate is a designer who likes taking ownership of their work, thinks strategically about how users move through a website, and designs with real build limitations in mind.
Key responsibilities
- Develop page layouts and site structures for Shopify, WordPress, and service-focused websites
- Produce wireframes, page journeys, and visual concepts with UX and conversion optimisation in mind
- Build responsive designs with a strong mobile-first mindset
- Work with developers to confirm that concepts are technically practical and ready for implementation
- Carry out minor content, layout, or styling edits inside CMS platforms when needed
- Use a basic understanding of HTML and CSS to support smoother handover and delivery
- Assist with website updates, redesign work, and ongoing client changes
- Join client discussions to gather goals, feedback, and design preferences
- Partner with the Founder on creative direction, project scope, and timelines
Skills and experience
You should bring proven experience in web design, digital design, or UX/UI design, along with a portfolio that demonstrates website work. Experience with Shopify or eCommerce projects is strongly preferred.
A solid grasp of user experience, user flow, visual hierarchy, and conversion-focused thinking is important. You will also need working familiarity with Shopify, WordPress, or Wix, plus enough HTML/CSS knowledge to design realistically around build constraints.
Experience designing for eCommerce or service-based businesses, the ability to manage several projects at once, and the confidence to work to deadlines are all valuable. Strong communication skills and a sharp eye for detail are essential.
What’s in it for you
- Starts as a casual role with the opportunity to move into part-time or full-time work
