About the role
Convergint is hiring a full-time, energetic, outcome-oriented Security Solutions Estimator to join its team in Brantford, Ontario. In this position, you will support the estimating function by preparing precise cost estimates for major RFPs, greenfield builds, and intricate project scopes. The role is centered on programmatic customers and calls for strong technical knowledge, ownership of deliverables, and close teamwork.

What you will do
- Build detailed and accurate cost estimates for large RFPs, greenfield projects, and complex scopes across global accounts and verticals such as data centers, healthcare, financial services, utilities, and education.
- Act as the link between junior estimators and senior design/estimating staff, taking responsibility for medium to large opportunities with programmatic customers.
- Review project requirements, technical documents, and specifications to understand scope, risks, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with sales, engineering, procurement, and project management teams so that estimates properly reflect cost, labour, resources, and timelines.
- Examine project scope, interpret drawings, analyze costs, and make pricing and feasibility decisions.
- Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and technical discussions to assess project conditions and requirements.
- Prepare accurate bills of materials so account executives can obtain pricing from vendors, subcontractors, and partners for materials, labour, and services.
- Spot scope gaps, project risks, and value-engineering opportunities, and propose practical solutions.
- Work with installation teams to confirm the practicality and accuracy of estimates.
- Apply knowledge of industry regulations and compliance requirements.
- Keep current on security technology, industry standards, and product pricing.
- Create and deliver accurate proposals to internal and external stakeholders.
- Carry out other related duties as needed.
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of experience in estimating, project management, or system design within electronic physical security, including access control, CCTV, and intrusion systems.
- Hands-on exposure to large RFPs, greenfield projects, and programmatic customer work.
- Good understanding of vertical market needs in areas such as healthcare, data centers, government, education, and banking/financial institutions.
- Ability to review construction documents, drawings, specifications, and technical scopes.
- Comfort using estimating software, Excel, and project collaboration tools.
- Knowledge of materials, labour costing, and subcontractor coordination for physical security systems.
- Ability to identify risks, suggest value-engineering options, and support profitability goals.
- Strong planning and organization skills to manage several projects and deadlines at once.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills for working with teams, customers, and vendors.
- Proactive approach with a commitment to continuous improvement and strong results.
- Field experience is considered an asset.
- Bilingual ability is considered an asset.
- Ability to obtain reliability and security clearances is considered an asset.
- Minimum experience required: 3 to 5 years in estimating, project management, or system design for physical security projects.
