About the role
JetBrains has been focused since 2000 on helping developers move faster and stay focused by automating repetitive checks and fixes. Within the company’s Innovation Hub, Hexana is being developed as a reverse engineering and binary analysis toolkit designed to add semantic understanding of compiled binaries directly inside the IDE, along with AI-supported disassembly workflows.
The product has already reached an early milestone through a WebAssembly-based MVP, which has attracted more than 1,000 downloads and initial users from teams such as Oracle and other groups in the Kotlin ecosystem. The next step is to extend the product beyond its initial scope into a broader binary landscape that includes ELF, Mach-O, PE, APE, LLVM bytecode, and additional formats, with the aim of creating a new category within the IDE ecosystem.
JetBrains is seeking a Product Manager who can help evolve Hexana from early validation into a scalable, strategically positioned product by leading discovery, sharpening product direction, and building a strong case for long-term impact.
What you will do
- Interview system engineers, reverse engineers, compiler developers, and other advanced users to understand how they work and what they need at the binary layer.
- Convert technical strengths and user pain points into a clear, well-supported product roadmap.
- Test assumptions, validate ideas, and improve product positioning through ongoing research and competitive analysis.
- Monitor the reverse engineering and binary tooling market, including products such as IDA Pro, Ghidra, and Binary Ninja, to guide strategy.
- Shape the go-to-market plan and monetization model as the product grows.
- Share product updates, strategic direction, and outcomes with JetBrains sponsors and internal stakeholders.
What we are looking for
- At least 5 years of experience in product management or in a role with comparable ownership and accountability.
- Background in building or scaling developer tools, IDE plugins, workflow platforms, or similarly complex technical products.
- Proven impact on the success of a technically sophisticated product, rather than only supporting it with process work.
- Strong technical thinking and the ability to earn credibility with engineers working on compilers, binary formats, and low-level systems.
- Comfort with ambiguity and an interest in turning research and exploration into clear product direction.
Preferred experience
- Exposure to reverse engineering, compiler work, security, or binary tooling.
- Experience taking an early product from zero to one, validating hypotheses, and driving first adoption.
- Interest in making low-level systems more polished, approachable, and deeply integrated into the developer experience.
Additional information
Hexana is still early, but it is an active product with a small, highly technical, and ambitious team. This is an opportunity to help define how binary intelligence becomes part of the modern IDE ecosystem, with support from one of the most respected developer tools companies in the world.
Equal opportunity
JetBrains is an equal opportunity employer and aims to build an open, inclusive workplace for people of all backgrounds, identities, religions, ages, accessibility needs, and orientations.
