Pit Side - Ingot Casting

Role Overview

This position is part of the SMS department in a steel manufacturing setup located in North India. The role focuses on managing the ingot casting process end to end, ensuring that castings solidify correctly, quality requirements are met, and production flow stays coordinated with the downstream teams.

Core Responsibilities

The selected person will oversee ingot casting operations, monitor process conditions, and make sure each ingot solidifies in line with the approved trial or quality plan. The role also includes coordinating with PPC and the forging team so that solidified ingots are moved for annealing or forging without delay.

Additional duties include managing ingot moulds, refractory materials, and casting powder inventories, checking casting parameters to maintain product quality, identifying surface or internal defects such as blow holes, cracks, and inclusions, and taking corrective action where needed. The role also requires maintaining segregation control during solidification, handling daily data entry or reporting work using SAP and basic computer tools, keeping the work area clean and organized, and following all safety requirements. Coordination and communication with SMS and CCM S/I teams is also part of the job.

Qualifications and Experience

A diploma or B.Sc. in a relevant discipline is required, along with practical work experience. The role calls for a minimum of 7 years of experience in the steel manufacturing industry.

The job requires the ability to manage manpower, communicate clearly, lead teams on the shop floor, and follow safety practices while handling casting operations.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Hisar, Haryana, India.
