This role is located at Novotel Canberra, Accor’s flagship property in the Australian capital. The hotel has 286 rooms and sits in the city centre, directly across from the light rail. It also features eight flexible conference and event spaces, serving corporate guests, leisure travellers, and sporting groups, so the work environment is varied and fast-paced.
What the Role Involves
The hotel is looking for an experienced, practical Maintenance/Handyperson to join the Engineering team on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will help keep the building, plant, and equipment operating safely and efficiently so the property remains welcoming for both guests and staff.
Key Duties
- Support the daily upkeep and repair of hotel facilities, equipment, and plant systems.
- Carry out regular inspections of plant and equipment, identify issues, and complete repairs where possible.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance according to operational needs and maintenance plans.
- Respond promptly to maintenance calls from guest rooms and shared areas.
- Work with contractors and internal teams to make sure tasks are completed smoothly and on time.
- Keep clear and accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activity.
- Use, handle, and store tools and equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Help reduce downtime and quickly restore out-of-service areas back into operation.
- Follow workplace health, safety, and environmental standards at all times.
