Role overview
The Logistics Coordinator will oversee the full logistics chain, from import and export handling to transport planning and document management. The role focuses on ensuring that heavy machinery and spare parts move on time and within budget, while meeting all applicable international trade rules and supporting regional business operations.
Key responsibilities
- Arrange transportation within the country and across borders by road, sea, and air, with a focus on on-time delivery and live shipment visibility.
- Manage the complete import/export workflow, including preparing, checking, and submitting shipping and customs paperwork such as invoices, packing lists, declarations, certificates, and related documents.
- Track shipments closely and step in early to resolve delays or other logistics issues that could affect operations.
- Keep precise records of logistics activities, including trade data, transport logs, and cost-related information.
- Work with sales, service, warehouse, and finance teams to support smooth order processing and delivery execution.
- Improve transport routes and logistics plans to raise efficiency and lower handling and freight costs.
- Assess, choose, and coordinate logistics partners such as freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers, making sure service levels and pricing remain competitive.
- Oversee logistics spending, verify invoices, and reconcile payments in line with internal controls.
- Ensure all activities comply with international trade regulations, customs rules, and company policies.
- Support insurance matters and claims connected to transport damage or missing goods.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in logistics workflows and systems.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Proven background in logistics operations, especially import/export and transport of heavy machinery or industrial equipment.
- Strong knowledge of international trade procedures, customs clearance, and logistics documentation.
- Excellent organizational ability and the capacity to manage several priorities under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Strong communication and people skills, with a cooperative and proactive work style.
- Good problem-solving skills and careful attention to detail.
- Experience working with logistics vendors and monitoring supplier performance.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and email; experience with ERP systems is an advantage.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken; additional European languages are a plus.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in construction machinery, heavy equipment, or industrial sectors.
- Familiarity with Incoterms, international shipping rules, and customs compliance.
- Previous work in multinational or cross-border business environments.
Additional information
This position may require coordination across several countries and time zones. Occasional business travel may also be necessary.
