Head - Product Certification

About the Role

This opportunity is for a senior leadership position in product certification based in Mumbai or Pune. The role focuses on steering the India business for product certification, managing profitability, leading technical teams, and driving growth across certification services.

Key Responsibilities

• Take charge of the India region business, including full ownership of profit and loss performance.
• Recruit, organize, and guide a team of engineers, allocating work according to skills and project needs.
• Nominate project engineers and provide hands-on technical direction during execution.
• Improve engineering utilization to support efficient and timely project delivery.
• Maintain a skills and capability tracker for engineers and monitor performance against internal procedures.
• Identify learning gaps, arrange training, and build the technical strength of the team.
• Encourage information sharing and collaboration within the group.
• Support certification work aligned with European directives for machinery, low voltage, and EMI/EMC requirements.
• Support compliance work for ATEX, IECEx, and standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 61511, ISO 13849, and IEC 62061.
• Assist the Cluster Head in preparing budgets aligned with company guidelines and growth targets.
• Set and communicate service scope and goals in line with organizational objectives.
• Create sales strategies for services to achieve expansion targets.
• Support business development efforts to accelerate product certification growth.
• Own new business generation within the scope of product certification services.
• Plan project execution to meet monthly sales targets in the India region.
• Keep leadership updated on billing progress, invoicing, and receivables collection.
• Build and maintain an effective management system for the product/service lifecycle.
• Track service performance using metrics, customer inputs, and market insights.
• Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations through accreditation and certification controls.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to align efforts and improve service outcomes.
• Coordinate with Notified Bodies to speed up projects and meet delivery timelines.
• Handle customer dissatisfaction and complaints quickly and effectively.
• Visit clients when needed to resolve issues in person.
• Review project work and continuously improve process quality and deliverables.
• Take responsibility for QHSE obligations relevant to the assigned services.
• Support hiring for technical positions when required.
• Lead teams in line with the company’s ethics and values while fostering a productive work environment.
• Promote team cohesion, capability development, and employee motivation with HR support where needed.

Preferred Profile

• Background in a leadership role within the product certification domain.
• Working knowledge of compliance requirements such as 2014/34/EU, 2006/42/EC, 2014/35/EU, 2014/30/EU, IEC 61508, IEC 61511, ISO 13849, IEC 62443, and IEC/EN 60079 series.
• Strong commercial understanding with proven P&L ownership.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate teams effectively.
• Good grasp of project management practices and execution discipline.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to develop strong client relationships and solve problems proactively.
• Results-driven approach with a clear focus on sales growth and business outcomes.
