Role Overview
The Epic Application Analyst role is a long-term contract position based in New York, NY. The position focuses on gathering, documenting, and translating business and clinical needs into clear technical deliverables for application and development teams.
Core Responsibilities
- Collect and analyze business requirements and workflows, then translate them into conceptual data models, process flows, and technical specifications that can be used by technical teams.
- Work directly with end users, stakeholders, and project sponsors to understand clinical and business needs and prepare business, functional, and technical requirement documents following internal standards.
- Turn gathered input into detailed documentation covering data sources, user and data types, interface elements, navigation requirements, reporting needs, and administrative system needs.
- Identify external interfaces, constraints, quality concerns, and other non-functional requirements.
- Share risks, concerns, and unclear points uncovered during requirements gathering with the project management team and support in resolving them.
- Coordinate with project managers to deliver requirements documentation on schedule.
- Organize, lead, and facilitate meetings and workgroups, including tracking follow-up actions through completion.
- Make sure the development team includes all required items in coordination with quality assurance, while aligning with internal policies and industry standards.
- Maintain baseline requirements through the formal change control process and prepare supporting materials such as test plans, technical documents, release notes, and user or training guides.
- Support unit acceptance testing and deployment activities in collaboration with other team leads.
- Handle end-user and application support, including troubleshooting and resolving application defects.
- Create and deliver project presentations as needed.
- Contribute to special projects when assigned.
- Train, mentor, and review the work of junior analysts and other team members.
- Support process improvement initiatives across projects and applications, including development and implementation efforts.
- Spot opportunities to improve processes, recommend changes, and communicate implementation strategies.
- Provide guidance and direction to junior analysts, consultants, and other assigned team members.
- Participate in interviews for junior analysts, consultants, and similar roles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Epic certification is preferred.
- Specialty certifications from a national, state, professional, academic, or technical program may count toward up to one year of the required experience on a month-for-month basis.
- A clinical background is preferred.
- Experience supporting at least two full life-cycle implementations is preferred.
Education and Experience
Candidates should have either a master’s degree or advanced clinical degree from an accredited college or university plus two years of experience leading requirements gathering and management for software in a clinical, allied health, non-allied health, behavioral health, information technology, information services, business, analytics, or related environment; or one year of relevant clinical or healthcare administration experience; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus five years of the same type of experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
