Role overview
Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge is seeking a full-time Dishwasher to join its food and beverage team at the Canmore, Alberta property. This is a permanent position with a schedule of 30 to 40 hours per week and an hourly wage of $17.50. The role may include night shifts, and a shift premium is offered when scheduled as a Night Cleaner. Overtime may be required and will be paid at time and a half.
Set in the Canadian Rockies, the lodge offers a mountain-resort environment with strong focus on team culture, guest service, and career growth. The property is part of the Autograph by Marriott collection.
What you'll do
- Clean chinaware and glassware using the dishwashing equipment
- Wash and sort cutlery, then place all items in their proper storage locations
- Handle cleaning chemicals correctly and store them safely
- Keep the dish area tidy through sweeping, mopping, and general upkeep
- Reduce breakage by handling tableware carefully
- Wash pots and put them away properly
- Flag safety concerns and help prevent accidents
- Prepare items for banquet and function service, such as plate setups and chafing dishes
- Coordinate closely with kitchen and service teams to keep operations moving
- Take on additional tasks as needed
What we're looking for
- Prior dishwashing or similar experience is helpful but not mandatory
- Someone energetic and adaptable who can stay effective under pressure
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and hazard awareness
- A cooperative team member who works well with others
- Comfort working rotating or shift-based schedules
- Good organization and the ability to manage several tasks at once
Physical requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods, typically 6 to 10+ hours per shift
- Frequent walking between kitchen, dish area, and storage areas
- Capacity to repeat scrubbing, rinsing, loading, and unloading tasks
- Ability to lift and carry heavy items such as pots, pans, trays, dish racks, and garbage bags
- Ability to push and pull loaded carts and racks
- Comfort with bending, twisting, and reaching overhead or low storage spaces
- Work in a warm, humid environment with steam exposure
- Regular contact with water, detergents, and other cleaning agents
- Ability to work quickly in a busy, high-volume setting, especially during peak service, banquets, and events
