Role overview
We are looking for an experienced, practical deckhand to join a vessel crew in Margate, Tasmania. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working on the water, stays calm in a busy environment, and is comfortable pitching in wherever needed.
What the position offers
- A secure full-time role with a stable roster.
- A 7/7 schedule, meaning one week on and one week off.
- Room to grow professionally if you show initiative and drive.
Key duties
- Set up and remove nets, mooring systems, and anchors.
- Carry out feed deliveries to sites across Southeast Tasmania.
- Load and unload equipment such as generators, compressors, and supplies.
- Help with lease upkeep and routine maintenance tasks.
- Use deck equipment including capstans, winches, and cranes.
What we are looking for
The right person will already have deckhand experience, ideally from commercial fishing, and will be physically fit enough for manual work. Safety awareness, reliability, and a strong team mindset are essential. A current licence and transport are required, and the role is only open to people who can work full-time in Australia. Qualifications such as Master V and MED 3 are advantageous, with Coxswain NC2 as the minimum baseline.
