Role Overview

This full-time onsite Data Scientist role in Augusta, Georgia is part of the Information Technology function and is an individual contributor position on first shift.

What You’ll Do

• Turn business questions into clear analytical problem statements, hypotheses, and execution plans.
• Collect, clean, combine, and prepare data from different sources for modeling, analysis, and reporting.
• Design, train, test, and improve statistical and machine learning models using established methods and sound practices.
• Assess data quality, spot missing or inconsistent information, and apply methods that make the data usable.
• Work with engineering, IT, and business teams to move analytics solutions into day-to-day operational processes within the agreed scope.
• Create dashboards, visual reports, and visualizations that help stakeholders quickly understand the findings.
• Track solution and model performance, analyze deviations, and make adjustments to keep results accurate and dependable.
• Record data sources, methods, assumptions, and outputs to support repeatability and governance requirements.
• Develop reusable code, tools, and analytics components that increase team productivity and consistency.
• Follow enterprise standards for data governance, security, and documentation throughout the analytics workflow.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Data Science & Analytics, Engineering, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Economics/Finance, Statistics, Applied Statistics, or Operations Research is required.
• At least 3 years of professional experience is required.
• Background in building analytics solutions, predictive models, dashboards, or reporting tools in a business environment is preferred.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Python and/or R, along with solid SQL skills for querying, transforming, and analyzing data.
• Experience with visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI or similar platforms is required.
• Exposure to structured enterprise data sources is preferred.
• Working knowledge of machine learning model development, validation, and performance tracking is required.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability for moderately complex business and data problems.
• Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality work within a defined scope.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain insights simply.
• Good collaboration skills for working across technical and business stakeholders.
• Careful attention to detail, with a strong focus on documentation, governance, and ongoing improvement.
