About the Role
As a Data Engineer on the Data & Analytics team in Singapore, you will be responsible for the data foundation behind business reporting, multi-market analytics, and emerging AI-driven data products. You will join a compact, high-trust team working on customer service automation already in production, customer-facing AI features scheduled for release this year, and AI-assisted analytics tools for internal users. You will also collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams on app capabilities that depend on data.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support ETL/ELT pipelines that meet service-level expectations across Singapore, Thailand, Australia, and future markets.
- Own data reliability by defining monitoring, alerting, and recovery approaches for analytics consumers as well as AI-agent-driven use cases.
- Work with AI and data product teams on customer service automation, customer-facing AI experiences, internal analytics agents, and future fraud-related use cases by providing well-structured, governed, and accessible data interfaces.
- Improve the resilience, visibility, and cost effectiveness of the data platform.
- Enhance data governance, handling of personally identifiable information, and audit preparedness for MAS and other regional regulators.
- Adopt and promote AI-assisted engineering practices in day-to-day work.
Requirements
- 0 to 4 years of experience in data engineering, including pipeline development, architecture, or data modelling.
- Strong command of SQL and Python.
- Hands-on familiarity with cloud-based data tools such as BigQuery, Matillion, dbt, Airflow, or similar platforms.
- Exposure to AI/ML data workflows, vector stores, or retrieval pipelines will be an advantage.
- Strong ownership, independence, and prioritisation skills, with a mindset focused on data quality and dependable pipeline operation.
- Ability to design systems that fail safely and recover gracefully.
- Comfort working with new technologies, especially in the AI and agent ecosystem.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work with varied stakeholders to identify requirements and remove blockers.
- Practical problem-solving ability, including root-cause analysis for pipeline issues and a drive for continuous improvement.
- Willingness to use AI tools in engineering workflows and learn quickly with team support.
- Interest in travel and an understanding of cross-border spending behaviour.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with financial technology data requirements, especially MAS or similar regulatory environments.
- Prior involvement in infrastructure for LLMs or AI agents, including RAG systems, vector indexes, agent observability, or evaluation pipelines.
What You Can Expect
- Strong autonomy to innovate and deliver with minimal hierarchy and fast decision-making.
- The opportunity to build core data infrastructure for a leading travel-focused fintech in Southeast Asia.
- Direct reporting line to the Data & Analytics Team Lead.
- Close collaboration with technical and business specialists across Singapore and the wider region.
- Work on data and AI products that are shipped to real customers in multiple markets.
Additional Information
This role is based in Singapore and follows an onsite full-time work arrangement.
