Role overview
We are looking for an experienced Credit Controller to strengthen the finance team within the heavy equipment rental sector. Based in Dubai, this position will oversee credit control activities for the Middle East region, with a strong focus on timely collections, credit risk reduction, and close coordination with internal stakeholders.
What you will do
- Manage customer accounts to support prompt payment and keep receivables under control.
- Review customer financial statements, credit ratings, and forecasts to define internal credit limits and booking allowances.
- Apply hold policies using payment behaviour and risk assessment, and maintain bankruptcy records for customers.
- Update customer credit limits in the ERP system and coordinate the release of shipment orders that are placed on credit hold.
- Record relevant account notes such as credit history, contact dates, and other important updates for stakeholder visibility.
- Work with data privacy and logistics teams on customer document verification and KYC preparation.
- Prepare monthly performance reports covering actuals versus targets, AR ageing, collections, DSO, and other regional KPIs.
- Document the basis for reserves and write-offs for doubtful receivables in line with company policy.
- Design and improve credit and collection processes to support operating entities and maintain policy compliance.
- Contribute to cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving payment cycles and operational efficiency.
- Review, refine, and document workflows and tracking metrics to support continuous improvement.
- Investigate and resolve payment differences and invoice disputes within agreed guidelines.
- Negotiate collection resolutions with customers, involving the Finance Manager, sales team, and legal team when needed.
- Lead monthly credit reviews, align on action plans with sales, finance, and management, and recommend non-standard terms where required.
- Coordinate special terms requests for approval.
Qualifications and experience
A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a closely related subject is required. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in credit and collections, credit analysis, or a similar finance role, preferably in the UAE heavy equipment rental industry. Experience in credit risk management, financial analysis, and process improvement is essential. Strong ERP knowledge and advanced Excel skills are expected, and the candidate must be multilingual.
