Construction Project Manager

Overview

This position focuses on leading metro and campus construction delivery, with an emphasis on safe execution, schedule discipline, and budget control. The role involves assessing engineering, site, and building documentation to inform practical decisions and improve project outcomes.

You will work alongside project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to coordinate delivery, manage procurement, and monitor scope, timeline, and cost performance. A strong part of the role is managing risk, overseeing vendors, and ensuring that safety and regulatory requirements are consistently met, while serving as a safety champion across project activities.

The role also requires sharing technical input in project discussions, partnering with internal functions and contractors, and using reporting tools such as metrics, dashboards, and scorecards to measure performance and support ongoing improvement.

Responsibilities

• Track approved project budgets and oversee controls such as expenditure requests, professional services requests, change orders, and pay applications, recommending adjustments where needed.
• Work with internal cloud operations and innovation teams and other key stakeholders to communicate updated process flows and help improve cost efficiency, cycle time, and delivery effectiveness.
• Take part in owner/architect/contractor and other project meetings, providing guidance and reinforcing a safety-first and security-aware approach during planning.
• Help deliver metro-based and campus projects, including new builds and retrofits, by making timely data-based decisions with the local team and stakeholders while keeping safety, security, quality, schedule, and cost priorities aligned.
• Apply practical and cost-conscious project delivery methods, using influence and sound judgment to resolve issues, manage schedules, and coordinate change with clients, sponsors, and vendors.
• Share technical knowledge with internal groups and general contractors/subcontractors to support the project vision, goals, and execution approach.
• Oversee procurement activities to ensure materials and resourcing are in place on time and within budget, and verify that staffing and supply needs are sufficient for completion.
• Support campus delivery solutions such as new or retrofit data center facilities by reviewing technical inputs, setting goals with teams, assigning responsibilities, measuring progress, and incorporating feedback.
• Contribute to project reporting on scope, schedule, standards, and budget performance.
• Define risk mitigation objectives and develop metrics, dashboards, and scorecards to monitor progress and communicate status effectively.
• Act as a safety lead for campus and metro construction programs, ensuring compliance with safety rules and regulatory expectations, and participating in audits and incident investigations.
• Review engineering documents, site plans, and building plans to identify gaps or risks and recommend improvements that strengthen constructability and align with organizational standards and security priorities.
• Monitor vendor and contractor performance, including compliance with security requirements, contracts, and nondisclosure obligations, and review cash flow and budget-related summaries with cost management teams.
• Review and approve vendor scope of work, design documents, pay applications, and invoices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline, along with at least 10 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline, along with at least 12 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred: 12+ years of experience working on data center projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction project controls, procurement, vendor oversight, safety compliance, risk management, and technical document review.
• Ability to collaborate across internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders while balancing delivery, cost, schedule, and quality objectives.
