Role overview
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency is hiring CBT Enforcement Examiners to work across a broad regional network. In this role, you will carry out a range of duties where you are qualified to do so, including instructor qualification tests, standards checks, motorcycle testing when needed, training site inspections, compliance checks, and enforcement activity at DVSA sites and third-party premises.
The position is designed to support the delivery of efficient, consistent, and customer-focused services that help the organisation meet its business plan goals while maintaining good value for money.

The role is suitable for hybrid working.
Working pattern and contract
This is a permanent role with flexible working arrangements. The contract can support full-time, part-time, job share, and other flexible working patterns. CBT Examiners work five days per week across Monday to Sunday. Because of this schedule, the role includes an additional 10% flexible working uplift on the base salary.
Pay and benefits
The salary is £30,485. If your base office is within the M25, you will also receive a London Weighting allowance of £4,000 per year. A Civil Service Pension is included with an employer contribution of 28.97%.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, arrange, deliver, and assess instructor standards checks, ATB compliance checks, training site inspections, instructor qualification tests, and ERS standards checks in line with the relevant criteria and procedures.
- Carry out motorcycle tests when needed, with a minimum expectation of one day each quarter.
- Keep precise records of all stakeholder interactions in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Work closely with colleagues in the CBT team to help maintain a consistent approach across the service.
What you will bring
To succeed in this role, you should have practical experience in motorcycle training and a strong understanding of the challenges and expected outcomes involved. You also need a solid grasp of DVSA rider testing across all motorcycle categories and awareness of road safety matters affecting drivers, riders, and other road users.
You must be confident operating at an advanced standard of both riding and driving. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to adapt your style for different people and situations. You should also bring good collaboration and stakeholder management skills, plus the ability to plan, organise, and manage your own workload independently.
