Business Analyst

Role Overview

REQ Solutions is hiring a Business Analyst for an onsite assignment in New York, NY 10286. This is a financial/banking role focused on evaluating a move from a pool-level Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS) program to a loan-level MBS program. The engagement runs for 6+ months and may be extended.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze the transition from a pool-level MBS structure to a loan-level MBS model.
• Review how an enterprise-wide change of this kind affects operations, technology design, and data handling.
• Understand the implications for the Pool Processing Agent (PPA), Central Paying and Transfer Agent (CPTA), and the MBS Issuance and Bond Administration (MBSIBA) contract.

Core Business Analysis Work

• Collect and document business requirements from stakeholders.
• Map current and future business processes.
• Perform gap analysis and identify areas needing improvement.
• Investigate root causes behind process or operational issues.
• Support process redesign and operating model analysis.

Tools, Methods, and Experience

• Hands-on experience in business analysis, process improvement, operations, product, or project delivery.
• Working knowledge of Agile, Scrum, or SDLC-based delivery environments.
• Ability to produce clear requirement documentation and engage effectively with stakeholders.
• Comfort using MS Excel, PowerPoint, Jira, Confluence, Visio or Lucidchart, SQL, and reporting tools such as Tableau or Power BI.

Preferred Background

• Prior exposure to financial services or banking is strongly preferred.
• Experience writing user stories and defining acceptance criteria.
• Ability to support UAT and assess the business impact of change.
• Familiarity with data analysis, dashboards, and business reporting tools.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, technology, operations, or a related discipline is required.
