Audio Visual Technician

Position overview

The Audio-Visual Technician will handle the setup, live operation, troubleshooting, and teardown of audio, video, lighting, and staging systems across the hotel’s event and dining spaces. The role supports banquet and catering functions, while also overseeing background music, digital displays, and other AV needs in restaurants and bars.

This position calls for a mix of hands-on technical ability and strong guest service, with a focus on smooth delivery for meetings, weddings, social functions, conferences, and day-to-day venue operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, install, configure, and dismantle AV equipment such as microphones, speakers, projectors, LED screens, lighting systems, and staging in line with event requirements and banquet event orders.
• Operate live audio, video, and lighting systems during presentations, ceremonies, conferences, and celebrations.
• Serve as the main technical contact for hosts and presenters, support rehearsals, and resolve technical issues quickly during events.
• Manage background music, zoned audio, and volume settings for restaurants, lounges, and similar spaces to suit the atmosphere and time of day.
• Set up and run AV for dining-based activities such as live music, DJ sessions, sports screenings, and private presentations.
• Monitor, maintain, and refresh digital signage, menu boards, promotional screens, and directional displays in public and dining areas.
• Carry out routine checks and preventative upkeep on AV assets to keep equipment safe and operational.
• Maintain inventory records, flag damaged items, and support repair coordination or rental arrangements when needed.
• Keep AV storage areas tidy, organized, and secure at all times.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience working as an AV technician, ideally in a hotel, hospitality, or live events setting.
• Strong working knowledge of audio mixing consoles, wireless microphone systems, and signal routing.
• Practical experience with video switchers, projectors, HDMI/SDI connections, and aspect-ratio management.
• Basic familiarity with lighting control desks and DMX programming.
• Understanding of core IT/networking concepts, including connecting devices through Wi‑Fi or LAN for presentations.
• Ability to stay composed under pressure and solve problems quickly in a luxury service environment.
• Professional appearance and communication style suited to guest-facing hospitality work.
• Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs, use ladders, and remain standing or walking for long shifts.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and public holidays depending on event schedules.
