About the Church
First Baptist Church in Lloydminster is part of the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches of Canada. It serves as an energetic church community with a heart for the Lloydminster region and the families who live there. The church’s mission is to guide people into a deepening relationship with Jesus Christ, and its vision is to be a church people are eager to attend, where everyone grows in faith and lives it out. The ministry approach is built around four themes: Think Big, Think Small, Think In, and Think Out. FBC is an active church with several growing ministries and a staff team that includes six full-time ministry staff members and two full-time support staff members.
Role Overview
The church is seeking an Associate Pastor to lead small group ministry, strengthen the process that connects new and existing attenders, and oversee discipleship opportunities, including Sunday morning electives. This role plays a key part in helping people move from first contact into meaningful connection, spiritual growth, and active service within the church body.
Community Context
Lloydminster’s greater area has about 30,000 residents. The city offers a blend of rural comfort and urban convenience, along with sports, cultural, and recreational amenities. Local families have access to public and Catholic schools, post-secondary learning, training opportunities, healthcare services, a regional hospital, senior care, retail shopping, and dining options.
Ministry Environment and Growth
The church currently has 22 small groups with a little over 200 participants. A major part of the work will involve preparing small group material using a sermon-based model, staying in contact with small group coaches, and recruiting and training facilitators. Over the past three years, attendance has grown by an average of 12.21% annually. The church wants to continue building a welcoming environment with clear next steps for people who are new or have attended for years.
Reporting Structure
The Associate Pastor is accountable to the Elders Board through the Lead Pastor and reports directly to the Executive Pastor. Any authority delegated by the Board to a staff member flows through the Lead Pastor.
Character and Ministry Qualifications
The ideal candidate should love God wholeheartedly and demonstrate the maturity, character, and conduct reflected in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-11, and 1 Peter 5:2-4. The person should also be a lifelong learner who is open to further education or training when it would benefit the church’s needs.
