Job description
About the role
groundcover is building cloud-native observability around eBPF, helping teams monitor Kubernetes environments with far less cost and complexity than typical solutions. The Boston office serves as the company’s commercial hub, supporting the sales, solutions, and go-to-market teams as they generate pipeline and close business.
This position sits at the center of that environment. As the Workplace & Office Operations Manager, you will keep the Boston office running smoothly so a team of 60+ sellers and marketing professionals can stay focused on their work. You will manage the physical workspace, external vendors, cultural moments, and the operating systems that make daily life in the office efficient and consistent. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys improving how things work, not just maintaining them.
As the Boston team expands from 25 people and beyond, this role is expected to grow as well, offering the chance to develop the office operations function, help define working norms, and contribute to the culture of a company in a strong Series B growth phase.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day office operations, including facilities, supplies, building coordination, and vendor management.
- Spot operational issues early and resolve them quickly, including matters related to the lease and service-provider agreements.
- Support the employee experience from onboarding logistics through team lunches, offsites, and recurring office rhythms.
- Coordinate with People and IT to ensure smooth new-hire arrivals and orderly employee exits.
- Manage the office budget, monitor spending, and make practical tradeoffs where needed.
- Handle contracts and relationships with vendors such as cleaning, security, catering, and equipment providers.
- Maintain office health, safety, and compliance standards, including emergency preparedness and liaison work with building security and fire safety contacts.
- Partner with the VP of Sales, Head of People, and Finance to align office operations with hiring plans, events, and culture programs.
- Lead office culture initiatives and event support, including all-hands meetings, celebrations, guest visits, and everyday workplace experience.
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of experience in office management, workplace operations, or a closely related role, preferably in a fast-scaling startup or technology company.
- Comfort working with a high level of ownership and uncertainty; able to identify priorities without needing constant direction.
- Strong ability to manage vendors and negotiate effectively while maintaining accountability.
- Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal communication skills.
- Highly organized and detail-focused, while remaining flexible when priorities change.
- Prior exposure to onboarding coordination, event support, or executive assistance is an advantage.
- This is a full-time, in-office position based in Boston, MA.
Work environment
This is an on-site role. The company expects the person in this position to be physically present in the Boston office and to treat in-office ownership as an essential part of the job.
Growth opportunity
As the Boston office scales, this role will have room to expand into broader operations ownership, with influence over how the team works and how office culture develops over time.
