Job description

Role overview

Coniglio Palm Beach, a fast-growing luxury resortwear label, is looking for a highly creative and experienced Women’s Apparel Designer to join its New York team. Reporting directly to the Founder, this role is central to defining the brand’s creative direction and building seasonal collections across dresses, separates, knitwear, sweaters, cover-ups, and special capsule projects.

The designer will work closely with leadership in design, merchandising, production, sales, and technical design to turn the brand vision into commercially successful product that captures the Coniglio Palm Beach look and feel.

The ideal candidate brings a strong creative point of view, technical knowledge, and a solid grasp of the luxury contemporary market. Experience in trend research, fabric development, garment construction, fit, and merchandising is important, along with the ability to move products from concept through production. This position calls for an entrepreneurial attitude, strong attention to detail, and comfort in a fast-moving, collaborative environment as the brand expands globally.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the Founder to shape and deliver the brand’s overall creative direction.
  • Research current and emerging trends in fashion, travel, lifestyle, color, print, fabric, and silhouette that resonate with the luxury resortwear customer.
  • Develop seasonal inspiration boards, mood concepts, color stories, and category plans.
  • Create and evolve collections across all apparel categories, including dresses, separates, knitwear, sweaters, cover-ups, and special projects.
  • Partner with print designers and creative teams to build exclusive prints and seasonal narratives.
  • Design fresh silhouettes and fit solutions that support versatility and inclusive sizing.
  • Build seasonal assortments that align with merchandising direction, sales targets, and growth goals.
  • Carry out market research, competitive shopping, and trend analysis to uncover whitespace opportunities.
  • Source and develop fabrics, trims, embellishments, yarns, washes, and special construction details.
  • Ensure designs stay within target cost and margin requirements.
  • Coordinate with overseas factories and development partners to bring design concepts to life while protecting quality.
  • Review and approve sketches, CADs, technical packages, and development samples.
  • Attend prototype, fit, SMS, and production fittings.
  • Work with Technical Design to communicate fit updates and construction refinements.
  • Collaborate with Production and Sourcing to maintain product quality through development and manufacturing.
  • Take part in line reviews, merchandising meetings, and seasonal planning sessions.
  • Support styling for market appointments, showroom presentations, photoshoots, and retail launches.
  • Manage seasonal timelines and keep design and development milestones on track.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members as the design organization expands.
  • Identify new categories and growth opportunities that support long-term brand expansion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related discipline.
  • At least 5–7+ years of women’s apparel design experience, ideally in contemporary, luxury, resortwear, or ready-to-wear brands.
  • Strong background across woven apparel, dresses, separates, knitwear, and sweaters.
  • Excellent taste level and a clear understanding of luxury fashion positioning.
  • Proven ability to build collections from concept to production.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, fabrications, and manufacturing methods.
  • Ability to balance creative ideas with commercial goals and business needs.
  • Prior experience working with overseas factories and development teams.
  • Highly organized with strong project management and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with PLM systems is preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to succeed in a fast-paced, high-growth setting.

Benefits and compensation

  • Paid holidays.
  • Company discounts.
  • Competitive compensation ranging from $80,000 to $120,000+ depending on experience.
