Job description
The Opportunity
Join the Taupō wastewater team in a leadership position focused on keeping the network operating safely, efficiently and on schedule. In this practical role, you will support the Supervisor by coordinating daily field activity and working directly with the crew on both reactive repairs and planned maintenance.
You will be responsible for organising work plans, assigning people and equipment where needed, and making sure the team has the right resources to complete tasks successfully. The role covers issues such as network blockages, overflows, pump station faults and routine maintenance, with a strong focus on troubleshooting and maintaining assets to a high standard.
Alongside operational delivery, you will help develop team members, contribute to reporting, and ensure all activities meet health, safety, environmental and compliance standards. The position also includes participation in an on-call roster, with after-hours and weekend callouts when required.
About You
The ideal candidate will bring solid wastewater network knowledge, experience leading or coordinating field crews, and the ability to plan work while balancing multiple priorities. You should be comfortable solving problems in fast-moving, reactive situations and able to communicate clearly, including written reporting and administrative tasks. A strong commitment to safe practices and environmental compliance is essential.
