Job description

Role overview

Jacobs is hiring a Wastewater Modeller to join its Ireland water team, supporting major infrastructure programmes across Dublin, Cork and Belfast. This position sits within a period of significant investment in the Irish water sector and offers the chance to contribute to projects that improve communities, strengthen environmental performance, and support long-term resilience.

You will work with major water clients through the full project lifecycle, from early feasibility and planning through design, construction, and operational support. The role is suited to someone who wants to grow in a collaborative environment and use wastewater modelling expertise to deliver practical, sustainable outcomes.

What you will do

  • Contribute to technical delivery and support the Project Manager in producing well-defined, dependable technical outputs.
  • Carry out network hydraulic modelling using InfoWorks ICM and related wastewater modelling tools.
  • Participate in model development, verification, and performance assessment using existing models.
  • Develop options and solutions for flooding and combined sewer overflow drivers.
  • Liaise directly with client teams, including attending in-person progress meetings.
  • Examine drainage network problems, analyse issues, and help resolve them.
  • Define survey requirements to support model updates and improvements.
  • Review weekly survey submissions from contractors and manage them appropriately.
  • Create and maintain hydraulic models.
  • Prepare technical reports and hydraulic modelling studies.
  • Develop engineering solutions to reduce development impacts, address sewer flooding, and improve overflow performance.
  • Assist with cost estimates linked to modelling work.
  • Oversee site surveys and field investigations.
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and document project activities and reports.
  • Support graduate engineers and technicians with guidance and mentoring.

Required experience and skills

  • Hands-on experience with wastewater network hydraulic modelling, especially InfoWorks ICM.
  • Working familiarity with InfoAsset Manager and similar modelling platforms.
  • Practical knowledge of GIS software such as MapInfo and ArcGIS.
  • Ability to work in line with client requirements and industry standards.
  • Proven record of technical delivery and client satisfaction within the water sector.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building effective relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Flexibility to manage multiple priorities and adapt when needed.
