Role overview
Sysco Ireland is seeking Warehouse Operatives to work from its distribution centre in Newcastle West. This is a daytime position within a fast-moving foodservice environment, supporting the supply of cafés, restaurants, and bars across Ireland.
The starting pay is €14+ per hour, with the rate increasing to €14.28 per hour after 12 months. Overtime may also be available. While prior warehouse experience is helpful, it is not a strict requirement because full training will be provided.
What you will do
- Pick orders manually in areas that operate at different temperatures, including ambient, chilled, and frozen storage.
- Work to target levels for speed and accuracy in daily operations.
- Follow health and safety, food safety, hygiene, SOPs, and company policies at all times.
- Use manual handling and material handling equipment procedures correctly, with full training provided where needed.
- Operate assigned equipment safely, including mechanical handling equipment and arm-mounted terminals.
- Carry out other general warehouse tasks as required.
What is required
- At least 2 years of previous warehouse experience is preferred, along with a full 2-4 week induction and training programme.
- Experience operating a high-reach truck is highly desirable.
- You must be available to work a 5-over-7 schedule, including weekends, and be flexible for changing shifts and overtime.
- You should be comfortable working to deadlines in a busy, high-pressure environment.
- Clear communication with colleagues across all levels of the business is important, especially for job-related matters and safety compliance.
- A strong focus on productivity, accuracy, and safe working practices is essential.
- Own transport is advisable, as there is no public transport to or from the depot.
