Job description
About Atria
Atria Health Institute is a membership-based primary and specialty care organization centered on prevention and longevity. Its team of respected physicians delivers proactive, preventive, and precision-oriented care to members and their families.
The organization also supports leading-edge longevity research through the nonprofit Atria Research and Global Health Institute, which connects scientific discovery with real-world clinical use and leverages longitudinal data to advance medical knowledge and health outcomes.
Atria’s mission is to help healthspan and lifespan become equal for everyone by turning science into medicine in real time while restoring a more human approach to health care.
About the Role
Atria is hiring a senior communications leader who can clearly position the organization as a distinctive force in health care—one that brings together precision prevention, personalized care, and academic research. This person will report to the Chief Content Officer and work closely with the Chief Executive Officer, serving as a key voice for the brand and its mission.
The role calls for someone who can shape and carry out the company’s media strategy, identify high-value opportunities, and build strong relationships with both traditional and emerging media outlets. A strong history of earning meaningful, high-impact coverage is essential.
Communications at Atria includes media relations, brand stewardship, thought leadership, and crisis communication. The position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving startup setting and can collaborate effectively across teams. The successful candidate will approach media work as relationship building, not just message distribution, and will represent the brand with care, clarity, and authenticity.
What You'll Do
- Create and implement communications strategies that establish Atria as a leading voice in preventive care and longevity science, including identifying the best media outlets, industry publications, podcasts, newsletters, speaking forums, and thought-leadership channels.
- Develop and sustain relationships with journalists, editors, and other key voices across health care innovation, preventive medicine, business, and longevity science, becoming a reliable source for physician expertise on emerging trends and scientific developments.
- Earn strong media placements for Atria, its physicians, and its leadership, prioritizing quality, consistency, and measurable impact over sheer volume.
- Work in close coordination with the Chief Content Officer, VP Content, and Director of Content Operations to keep external communications aligned with editorial planning and content programs.
- Support brand reputation and act as the main communications partner for the leadership team by preparing executives for interviews, speaking engagements, and panel appearances while ensuring messages remain aligned with the organization’s mission and values.
- Plan and lead crisis communications efforts that protect brand trust while maintaining openness, consistency, and authenticity.
Who We're Looking For
The ideal candidate has a strong instinct for what makes Atria distinctive and can communicate that value clearly and persuasively. They should be genuinely aligned with the mission and able to speak about preventive health care and longevity science with both enthusiasm and precision.
This person must be able to explain complex scientific and medical ideas in a way that is compelling to journalists, industry leaders, and the broader public without sacrificing accuracy. They should think strategically about media opportunities, focus on building relationships, and choose placements that strengthen the brand rather than simply increasing volume.
We are looking for someone who acts as a careful guardian of the brand, understands that trust is central in health care, and collaborates effectively across the organization.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in communications or public relations, including a minimum of 5 years in health care, science, or mission-driven organizations.
- A strong record of building media relationships and landing meaningful coverage across legacy media, podcasts, speaking opportunities, and newsletters.
- Experience creating communications strategies that support business goals while preserving an authentic brand voice.
- Prior experience guiding communications through periods of growth or organizational change is preferred.
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to create content for media professionals, subject matter experts, and general audiences across both traditional and digital channels.
- Experience in content-driven PR and thought leadership is preferred over product-focused communications; background in research, publishing, or content-centered organizations is a plus.
- Strong judgment in crisis communication and reputation management, with the ability to stay calm under pressure and keep messaging strategic and consistent.
Compensation
The annual salary for this position is $250,000 to $275,000.
Benefits
- Comprehensive health and wellness coverage, paid in full by Atria starting on the date of hire.
- OneMedical membership for employees and dependents, including 24/7 virtual care access.
- Fertility and family-planning support.
- Company-paid preventive health screenings through partner hospitals, including calcium score testing.
- Fitness benefits such as Wellhub.
- 401(k) contributions with a 4% employer match beginning after 6 months.
- Flexible time off.
- Support for continuing medical education and CEU requirements tied to professional licensure.
- Dedicated time to contribute to underserved communities and give back.
