Visual Merchandiser 12m Secondment - Cashel St

Role overview

H&M is looking for a Visual Merchandiser to join the Christchurch store on Cashel Street for a 12-month parental leave secondment. In this role, you will help shape an engaging in-store environment that encourages customers to discover their individual style. You will work closely with the store team to deliver strong visual presentation, customer guidance, and commercial execution that reflects H&M’s brand direction and values.

The position sits at the centre of a busy fashion retail setting, where visual standards, styling, and sales performance all go hand in hand. You will also support the rollout of the Commercial Handbook and help build capability across the store team.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain garment presentation standards in line with the Commercial Handbook so the store delivers clear styling inspiration and an appealing shopping experience.
• Create a strong standard of fashion styling through both window and in-store displays.
• Work with the Department Manager to identify and act on commercial opportunities while staying aligned with H&M brand guidelines.
• Deliver visual and commercial training for store colleagues together with the Store Manager and Department Managers so presentation and styling standards are consistently applied.
• Identify potential future Visual Merchandisers and contribute to succession planning.
• Plan and prioritise your tasks according to business demand and commercial planning, while making sure safety, security, and administrative routines are followed at all times.

What you need to bring

• A genuine interest in fashion trends and styling, with the ability to stay current and anticipate customer needs.
• A customer-focused mindset and a track record of creating a strong customer experience in a visual merchandising environment.
• Good organisation and prioritisation skills, with the flexibility to manage several tasks in a fast-moving retail setting.
• Commercial awareness, including the ability to review figures and turn them into plans that help increase sales.
• The confidence to delegate, follow up, and give clear feedback in a way that supports coaching and team development.
• Strong people skills and the ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and customers.
