Role overview

This contract Visual Designer opportunity is based in Boston, MA and offers an hourly rate of $38 to $42. The role sits within a fintech setting and is centered on shaping visual communications and digital interface experiences. A major part of the position is using emerging AI-enabled design tools to build contemporary, user-focused solutions while staying consistent with brand standards and responsible AI practices.

What you'll do

  • Work closely with project teams to clarify business needs and design objectives.
  • Design user-centered visuals and interface solutions for complex problems using established best practices.
  • Own the design workflow from early concepting through final production, using AI-supported ideation, layout testing, image generation, and workflow automation to improve speed and output quality.
  • Deliver finished creative assets in coordination with UX and design teammates.
  • Review business requirements with team input to shape design recommendations.
  • Create supporting design materials such as sketches, wireframes, storyboards, graphics, data visualizations, and interactive layouts, using AI tools to speed up exploration and improve results.
  • Partner with UX, Digital Strategy, IT, and Communications groups to identify needed changes or enhancements to digital products and programs.
  • Keep up with design research, market trends, and advances in AI-assisted creative methods.
  • Take part in user research and, where appropriate and aligned with standards, use AI-based synthesis tools to spot patterns or generate insights.
  • Use AI tools to support first-pass data visualization ideas and automatic formatting.
  • Find original and stock visuals, and use AI image-generation tools responsibly when they help with concept development.
  • Protect and reinforce brand guidelines, including ethical, transparent, and responsible use of AI in creative work.

Required skills and experience

  • Hands-on experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and current design software.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Experience with AI-assisted design tools such as generative imagery, layout recommendations, and automated pattern libraries.
  • Strong creativity and structured problem-solving ability.
  • Good planning, prioritization, and organization skills.
  • Solid visual design, typography, and production capabilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to explain design decisions clearly and briefly.
  • Understanding of user-centered design principles.
  • Strong people skills and a customer-service mindset.
  • Ability to assess AI-generated output for accuracy, accessibility, ethical use, and brand fit.

Preferred background

  • Exposure to digital photo and video production.
  • Experience in a regulated or financial services environment.
  • Interest in new AI capabilities and a willingness to incorporate them into daily workflows.
