Job description

Company overview

Realist Films is a video production studio that creates authentic, motivational, documentary-led content for forward-thinking businesses. Its work is centered on digital commercials and corporate storytelling, with a close client partnership model aimed at improving engagement and supporting revenue growth. The company places strong emphasis on creativity, teamwork, and consistently high production standards.

Role overview

As a Video Editor, you will shape raw footage into polished video assets for commercial and corporate projects. The position calls for building a clear narrative, maintaining visual quality, and delivering final content ready for use across different digital channels. You will work alongside producers, directors, and other creative team members to keep projects on schedule and ensure the finished output reflects the client’s objectives and brand identity.

Key work areas

  • Sort and manage incoming footage, then select the best material for each edit.
  • Trim and sequence clips to create a smooth, cohesive story.
  • Add transitions, visual effects, and motion elements where needed.
  • Perform color correction and grading to keep the look consistent and professional.
  • Prepare exports and final deliverables in the required formats for multiple platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with creative stakeholders throughout the editing process.
  • Keep work aligned with deadlines, project plans, and brand guidelines.

Qualifications

Candidates should bring hands-on experience in video editing and production, with the ability to turn raw material into finished, client-ready content. Familiarity with professional editing applications and motion design tools is important, along with a strong grasp of file types, codecs, and platform-specific delivery needs. The ideal applicant is organized, detail-oriented, responsive to feedback, and comfortable managing several deadlines at once. Prior work in commercial, corporate, or documentary-style projects is expected, and a portfolio or showreel must be available. An associate or bachelor’s degree in Film, Media, Communications, or a similar field is preferred, though equivalent professional experience is also acceptable.

This is a full-time hybrid position based in El Segundo, California, combining on-site collaboration with some work-from-home flexibility.
