Role overview

As the Vice President of Project Management, you will own the company’s project governance framework and drive strategic delivery across major initiatives. The role is centered on building an enterprise-grade project management function, managing the project portfolio, and overseeing execution of high-impact programs. Your work will help translate business strategy, product goals, and operational priorities into on-time, on-budget, and value-driven outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and implement the organization’s project management strategy and long-term operating model.
  • Set up and continuously improve a company-wide PMO and governance structure.
  • Create standardized methods for project life cycle management, including tools, workflows, and control processes.
  • Oversee portfolio management by assessing project priorities, strategic alignment, and business value.
  • Improve allocation of resources and budget usage across the project portfolio.
  • Lead major enterprise initiatives such as digital transformation, system enhancements, and new business rollouts.
  • Define milestones, stage-gates, and delivery checkpoints to keep projects progressing effectively.
  • Resolve critical issues, risks, and blockers that affect project execution.
  • Coordinate with product, engineering, operations, marketing, finance, and other functions to align goals and execution.
  • Establish communication paths, decision-making forums, and escalation routes for cross-functional work.
  • Track project KPIs, delivery quality, spend, and resource utilization.
  • Prepare periodic updates for the CEO or executive leadership team on project status and business impact.
  • Build the PMO and project management team, including capability frameworks and succession depth.
  • Encourage professional development through structured methods, certifications such as PMP and agile, and a high-accountability culture.
  • Set up risk identification, early-warning, and compliance controls for budgets, contracts, delivery, and operations.
  • Ensure projects follow company policies as well as relevant industry expectations and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in project management, engineering management, business administration, or a related discipline.
  • PMP, PgMP, or another relevant project management certification is preferred.
  • MBA is also preferred.
  • 20+ years of experience in project management or broader operations management.
  • At least 15 years of experience handling large, complex projects or PMO functions.
  • Proven history of delivering cross-functional and cross-regional initiatives successfully.
  • Background in digital transformation or enterprise-scale project management is an advantage.
  • Strong command of project governance and portfolio management.
  • Ability to break down strategy into executable plans and drive results through others.
  • Excellent problem-solving, risk management, and issue-resolution skills.
  • Strong collaboration, stakeholder management, and resource integration abilities.
  • Senior leadership capability with strong organizational and people-management skills.

Preferred experience

  • Experience working with large organizations or multinational enterprises.
  • Exposure to digital transformation, ERP, CRM, or platform upgrade programs.
  • Familiarity with agile delivery models or SAFe practices.
  • Experience presenting major project updates to the CEO or Board of Directors.
