Role Overview

The Vice President of Project Management leads enterprise project governance and ensures strategic initiatives are delivered effectively. This position owns the organization-wide project management structure, oversees the full project portfolio, and directs major programs so they align with corporate strategy, product objectives, and broader business goals. The role is accountable for keeping critical work on track, controlling costs, and delivering measurable business outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Define the company’s project management direction and long-term development plan.
  • Set up and strengthen an enterprise PMO and governance model.
  • Create consistent project lifecycle processes, standards, and methodologies.
  • Improve project management tools, systems, and operating practices on an ongoing basis.
  • Oversee the full project portfolio and prioritize work based on strategic fit.
  • Balance resource deployment and budget usage for better efficiency.
  • Ensure project spending supports business objectives and investment goals.
  • Lead large-scale initiatives such as digital transformation, system enhancements, and new business rollouts.
  • Put milestone tracking, stage reviews, and delivery checkpoints in place.
  • Keep projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with quality expectations.
  • Address major delivery issues and remove risks during execution.
  • Coordinate across Product, R&D, Operations, Marketing, Finance, and other teams.
  • Build clear communication, escalation, and decision-making routes for projects.
  • Improve cross-functional alignment and overall execution speed.
  • Define project KPIs and performance evaluation methods.
  • Track timelines, cost, quality, and resource use across initiatives.
  • Lead post-project reviews and convert lessons learned into improvements.
  • Provide regular updates on project health and business impact to senior leadership.
  • Manage and develop the PMO and project management talent base.
  • Build capability frameworks and career paths for project managers.
  • Encourage professional standards and certifications such as PMP and Agile.
  • Strengthen a results-driven culture focused on high execution.
  • Set up early warning systems for project risks.
  • Handle risks related to budgets, contracts, delivery, and operations.
  • Ensure project work follows company policies and industry requirements.
  • Protect brand reputation and customer confidence through disciplined execution.

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree or above in Project Management, Engineering Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline. PMP, PgMP, or comparable certifications are preferred, and an MBA is an added advantage.

The role calls for more than 20 years of experience in project management or broader operations leadership. Candidates should have at least 15 years of experience leading complex, large-scale projects or managing a PMO, along with a strong history of delivering cross-functional and cross-regional initiatives. Experience in digital transformation or enterprise-level project management is preferred.
