Role Overview

The Vice President of Project Management is a senior leadership position focused on enterprise project governance, portfolio oversight, and delivery of strategic initiatives. This role builds and runs the company-wide project management structure, ensures disciplined execution of major programs, and helps translate corporate strategy and business goals into measurable project outcomes. Success in this role means delivering important projects on time, within budget, and with clear business impact.

Project Management Strategy and Framework Development

  • Define the organization’s long-term project management direction and roadmap.
  • Create and maintain an enterprise PMO along with a strong governance model.
  • Build common standards for project lifecycle management, methods, and controls.
  • Continuously improve project tools, workflows, and operating processes.

Project Portfolio and Resource Management

  • Lead oversight of the company-wide project portfolio.
  • Assess project priorities and how well they align with strategic goals.
  • Improve the use of budgets and resources across initiatives.
  • Make sure project investments support business objectives.

Major Project Execution and Delivery

  • Direct high-impact enterprise projects such as digital transformation, system enhancements, and new business rollouts.
  • Set up milestone tracking, stage-gate checks, and delivery controls.
  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and at the required quality level.
  • Handle major issues and risks that arise during delivery.

Cross-functional Collaboration and Execution Drive

  • Coordinate work across Product, R&D, Operations, Marketing, Finance, and other teams.
  • Support alignment of goals and smooth execution across departments.
  • Establish effective communication, decision-making, and escalation paths for projects.
  • Strengthen the company’s overall execution speed and reliability.

Project Performance and Operational Analysis

  • Design project KPIs and measurement systems.
  • Track progress, spend, quality, and resource use across initiatives.
  • Conduct project reviews after completion and apply lessons learned for improvement.
  • Provide regular updates on project status and business impact to the CEO or executive leadership.

Project Management Capability Building

  • Lead the PMO and project management organization.
  • Develop role expectations, capability models, and growth paths for project managers.
  • Promote structured project practices and certifications such as PMP and Agile.
  • Build a performance-driven culture with strong delivery discipline.

Risk and Compliance Management

  • Set up systems to identify and flag project risks early.
  • Manage exposure related to budgets, contracts, delivery, and operations.
  • Ensure projects follow internal policies and applicable industry standards.
  • Protect the company’s reputation and preserve customer confidence.

Qualifications

This position calls for a highly experienced project and operations leader with a strong record of managing complex, large-scale initiatives. Candidates should bring executive-level leadership, portfolio governance expertise, and a proven ability to drive cross-functional execution in a demanding environment.

Education

A bachelor’s degree or higher in Project Management, Engineering Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline is expected. PMP, PgMP, or similar project management certifications are preferred, and an MBA is also preferred.

Experience

Applicants should have more than 20 years of experience in project management or broad operations management. At least 15 years should include leadership of large, complex projects or PMO functions. Experience successfully delivering cross-functional and cross-regional work is required, and digital transformation or enterprise project management experience is an advantage.
