Role Overview

The Vice President of Operations will provide leadership and day-to-day support across assigned locations, teams, and employees. This role partners closely with others to align employee relations and operational priorities with the site’s strategic goals. The position carries responsibility for delivering short- and long-term targets, tracking performance, and building action plans to support budgets, strategic initiatives, and corporate objectives. The leader is expected to set the tone for the team, foster a healthy work environment, and apply company policies consistently and fairly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive ongoing gains in safety, quality, productivity, and waste reduction across all plant processes.
  • Own profit and loss for the assigned sites, including planning and managing both capital and operating budgets.
  • Guide department leaders as they improve the operations within their areas of responsibility.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts so internal and external customer expectations are consistently exceeded.
  • Collaborate with Sales from an operations standpoint to retain existing business and help bring in new customers.
  • Track manufacturing activity, performance, and results, and escalate or resolve issues affecting schedules, cost, material usage, quality, safety, service, or productivity.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant laws and regulations, including OSHA, EPA, EEO, and other applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Prepare and share plant performance updates with corporate teams as needed.
  • Keep communication open between plant employees and corporate staff to strengthen safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Recommend hiring, termination, promotion, transfer, training, and merit increase actions for plant personnel.
  • Help improve employee performance through active leadership in learning and training programs.
  • Motivate teams to meet departmental goals and production schedules efficiently and on time.
  • Handle other business-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated strength in leadership and team building.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, along with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Strong commitment to quality and ongoing process improvement.
  • Well-developed organization and time management abilities.
  • Ability to coach, teach, and mentor employees at different levels.
  • Solid analytical thinking and reporting capability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Management, Engineering, Graphic Arts, or a closely related discipline is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience owning profit and loss responsibility.
  • At least 8 years of diverse management experience in a manufacturing setting, ideally within print, labels, or packaging.

Additional Information

The annual salary range for this position is $156,700 to $250,700. Compensation may be adjusted based on the hiring location, and pay decisions may vary depending on education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift, and location. It is uncommon for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range. In addition to base pay, the total compensation package may include eligibility for a bonus, commission, or other incentive program.
