Role Overview
This executive opportunity is with a financial services organization in the Kalamazoo area that is looking for a forward-thinking technology leader to shape its long-term IT direction. The position focuses on guiding technology operations, digital modernization, data and analytics, cybersecurity, and the thoughtful use of emerging tools such as artificial intelligence.
As a senior leader on the executive team, you will help connect technology plans with business priorities, strengthen organizational capabilities, and guide teams and partners toward measurable improvements. The environment calls for a leader who listens carefully, builds trust, and then drives meaningful change with balance and clarity.
Work Arrangement
This is a hybrid position. Onsite presence is required in Kalamazoo on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the full technology function, covering infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise systems, data and analytics, and project management.
- Create and carry out a technology roadmap that supports business goals and future expansion.
- Work closely with executive leaders to find ways technology can improve efficiency, service quality, and overall business performance.
- Assess current capabilities and recommend upgrades to systems, workflows, and team structure.
- Guide major technology programs from early planning through implementation.
- Shape the organization’s AI direction, including governance and responsible adoption.
- Strengthen reporting, analytics, and business intelligence so decisions are driven by better data.
- Oversee security, risk, and governance practices across the technology landscape.
- Manage vendor partnerships, technology contracts, and strategic external relationships.
- Set priorities across a varied portfolio of projects and technology investments.
- Share strategies, risks, and recommendations with executive leaders and board-level stakeholders.
- Coach, mentor, and develop technology managers and team members.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, innovation, and ongoing improvement.
- Ensure systems and operations remain dependable, secure, scalable, and aligned with organizational needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 15 years of overall IT experience.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in information technology, including senior management or executive-level responsibility.
- Background leading multiple IT areas such as infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, operations, and vendor management.
- Proven experience driving organizational and technology transformation.
- Strong knowledge of security, risk management, governance, and IT best practices.
- Experience handling complex technology portfolios and large projects.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Comfort presenting to executive leadership teams.
- Strong ability to lead, coach, and develop people.
- Capability to combine strategic planning with hands-on execution.
